National “hydrogen energy” major special project started

On the same day, the national “new energy vehicle” key project “fuel cell engine and commercial vehicle industrialization technology and application project” led by Weichai Power was officially launched. Weichai will establish a demonstration project for the industrialization of fuel cell commercial vehicles in the whole industry chain.

Layout high-end equipment manufacturing

On August 29, 2018, Shandong Heavy Industry signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Jinan City. The “Green Power Hydrogen City” (Jinan) demonstration project was officially launched, and Jinan City should be built into the “first city” of China's hydrogen energy. In the next 3-5 years, Shandong will be the first to be a model province for “green power hydrogen energy cities”.

Control the three core technologies of new energy

On the same day, Shandong Heavy Industry Weichai Group and the global hydrogen fuel cell leader Canada Ballard Power Systems Co., Ltd. signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement to jointly develop and manufacture hydrogen fuel cell power system in Shandong; and reached technical cooperation with Canada Westport Fuel System Company. Developed second-generation in-cylinder high-pressure direct injection (HPDI) technology to develop and manufacture high-end natural gas engines in Shandong.

At this point, Weichai Power firmly controls the three core technologies of the future new energy sources - solid oxide fuel cells, hydrogen fuel cells, HPDI natural gas engines.
