The extension of the Xinghua Chemical Project commenced in April 2008. The project adopts multi-component slurry coal gasification, low-temperature methanol elution sulphur and decarbonization raw material gas purification, and domestic and foreign advanced technologies such as low-pressure synthesis and three-tower distillation methanol synthesis, and uses the ammonia, alcohol, and alkali cogeneration schemes to build an annual output of 300,000 tons. After being put into production, it can reduce greenhouse gas CO2 emissions by 16.8 million cubic meters (300,000 tons) per year, recover 768 million cubic meters of hydrogen (3,800 tons of synthetic ammonia can be produced), realize sales revenue of 2.5 billion yuan, profits and taxes of 922 million yuan, and profit of 6.73 100 million yuan.
