Last week, Onofr opened its new chemical plant in Shanghai's Shanghai Chemical Industry Park. The plant, owned by U.S.-based Onofr, which was recently acquired by the United States, produces butadiene-butadiene latex for tires, hoses and other reinforced rubber products and supplies the rapidly growing Asia-Pacific market. In addition, special latex projects based on innovative technology for the polymerization of styrene-butadiene rubber and propylene emulsions are being evaluated at the plant.
Jim Holman, president of Onofr's Functional Chemicals Business Unit, said at the ceremony that “The Handan plant will play a key role in the global development of Onofofa. It strongly supports our vision of using regional Production plants that supply customers worldwide to ensure better service, shorter lead times, and lower shipping costs.â€
It is reported that Onofec also owns a chemical plant in Ningbo, China, which mainly produces antioxidants.
Onofr is a technology-based company with sales of more than $1.1 billion in 2010 (including the acquisition of Ilhiou) and employs approximately 3,060 people worldwide. Onofroma is an innovator in the field of emulsion polymers, specialty chemicals, decorative and functional surfaces, which are mainly used in the chemical, industrial and residential end markets.
