How to measure area and perimeter with eXplorist Explorer GPS

The eXplorist series machines have added two area/perimeter measurement functions. One is real-time measurement and the other is polygon measurement. The main differences between the two methods are:
Real-time measurement: After positioning the GPS, one can walk around the area to be measured with the GPS, and the area and perimeter of the area to be measured can be calculated. This method is suitable for small area area calculation and irregular area area calculation.

Polygonal measurement: Predetermine all the vertices of the area to be measured, then make up the polygon calculation. This method is suitable for regular areas, relatively large areas, or areas that cannot be measured in real time along the boundary.
These two calculation methods are applicable to the explorer series 210/400/500/600/XL five models.

How to use the real-time measurement function
1. Press the MENU key and press the right, left, right, and left arrow keys in the menu display state. The screen will display “00”

2. Press the up arrow four times, change “00” to “04” and press the enter key to start the real-time area measurement function

3. This is the real-time area measurement screen. Firstly, the data such as the area and perimeter of the previous measurement is displayed. The first data is the area of the previous measurement, and the second data measured in the counterclockwise direction is the last measurement. The third data of the perimeter is the distance from the end of the last measurement to the starting point.

4. With the GPS already positioned, press the Enter key on the real-time measurement screen to start the measurement. If the GPS has not been located, you will see this prompt:

Polygonal measurement

1. Press MENU and select "Advanced Features" on the menu

2. Then select "Area calculation"

3. Also display the area and perimeter of the last measured area. The perimeter and area are scrolled at the bottom of the screen to display the polygon method.

The polygon vertex data used can come from its own marked waypoint (point of interest), GPS treasure point, or

The address on the map. When measuring polygons, pay attention to adding vertex data sequentially.
