This year, Matsushita applied to the Indian government to open a retail store selling its lighting products in India through a single-brand retail foreign direct investment policy. In the first quarter of this year, the company has submitted its application to the Indian Industrial Policy Promotion Department with its Indian subsidiary, AnchorElectricals, which is only used for Panasonic LED lamps and other lighting decoration products. According to insiders, retail products will not be sold in Panasonic's retail stores, such as televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators, microwave ovens and other household products. Panasonic-Anchor has four production sites in India and has a major market share in wiring equipment and switches. The company is currently expanding into the LED lighting sector. In December last year, the company opened a Panasonic LED Lighting Experience Center in Mumbai to showcase its LED lighting products. In the future, it plans to open more such experience centers in cities such as Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. Panasonic hopes to transform these centers into sales points that provide customers with a superior buying experience.
