Application of magnetic particle inspection in the detection of pressure vessels

Because the pressure vessel material is mostly carbon steel or low alloy steel, the residual magnetism is relatively small. Therefore, the magnetic particle flaw detection of the pressure vessel generally adopts the continuous method, that is, the magnetic powder is applied to the workpiece for magnetic particle flaw detection while the magnetic field is magnetized. There are many methods for magnetic particle inspection, but the detection of magnetic particle inspection by pressure vessels is mainly for welds, so the following are commonly used.

1. Magnetic yoke method When the container is simple in equipment and convenient to operate, the movable joint yoke can be used to detect the fillet weld. There must be some overlap in the course of the operation. However, this method is relatively inefficient and can be dangerous if it is improper during operation.

2, cross yoke method This is the most widely used method in the detection of pressure vessels, his detection efficiency is very high, the sensitivity is very high. Suitable for longer welds and not suitable for taught welds. Moreover, the voltage required for use is high.

3, the coil method This method is suitable for the surrounding of the pipe and the weld of the pin can be detected by the cable method. In the actual detection of the pressure vessel, since the joint fillet weld is complicated, the above two methods cannot be satisfied, so the winding method can only be used.
