Multi-point Soil Temperature and Humidity Recorder to Collect Forest Soil Temperature and Humidity Data

The growth of trees can not be separated from the relevant conditions of soil temperature and humidity. For the collection and control of forest soil temperature and humidity is very important for the cultivation of trees. With the continuous development of computer and intelligent detection technology, embedded systems have become the first choice for various types of data collection. At the same time, based on wireless transmission technology, the reliability and intelligence of embedded data acquisition systems are greatly improved. The multi-point soil temperature and humidity recorder is an important instrument for measuring soil temperature and humidity. For this reason, the research on forest soil is more scientific.

The whole system of multi-point soil temperature and humidity recorder consists of two parts, the soil temperature and humidity data acquisition subsystem and the remote monitoring and receiving subsystem, as shown in Figure 1. The system has the functions of querying, storing, regularly reporting and warning (fire or flood) of soil temperature and humidity. The on-site data acquisition subsystem consists of a data acquisition module, a CDMA module, and a power module. The monitoring and receiving subsystem consists of a server, a display control computer, and a monitoring server.

Data acquisition subsystem software mainly includes operating system migration module, main program design module and A/D conversion program design module. Because the soil monitoring requires real-time, this design will transplant the embedded operating system with better real-time to the S3C44B0X. The system is required to complete the hardware initialization of the S3C44B0X in the main function, and then initialize the various operating system modules. The operating system has a total of three task modules, namely the main task (sensor data acquisition), CDMA communications, GPS positioning and data acquisition. Among them, the main task has the highest priority level, and data collection, processing, and transmission are performed every 4 hours.

The multi-point soil temperature and humidity recorder uses the embedded processor as the core of the data acquisition subsystem to develop the monitoring program for the acquisition subsystem. Using CDMA1X network and Internet as the carrier to send data to the remote monitoring center, remote monitoring of forest soil parameters was realized. According to actual needs, the relevant modules in the system can be cut or the sensor of the acquisition subsystem can be changed. It can also be used in other fields of environmental monitoring and has a wide range of application prospects.
