A friend asked the weak electric industry network, what should I do if the monitoring project exceeds 100 meters? Or how to deal with it when you find that the distance is beyond the network cable?
In actual projects, such a situation often occurs. Due to the lack of pre-judgment, when the project is installed in the middle of construction, it is found that the distance is long and the network cable is not enough. The transmission distances are all about 100 meters. Even if it is a category 6 standard network cable, it can only be within 120 meters. The ordinary network cable cannot exceed 90 meters in construction.
So in the project, how to solve the problem if you need to transmit a distance of 300 meters or find that the distance is too long? Let's summarize this issue today.
Method one: add a switch
Types 5 and 6 are all 100 meters. If you want to increase the transmission distance, a switch (relay) can be installed between the two twisted pairs. In theory, 4 switches can be installed. If 4 switches are installed to connect 5 network cable segments, the theoretical transmission distance can reach 500m.
For monitoring projects, if the transmission distance exceeds 100 meters, we can add a switch in the middle to relay, and use it with Category 6 cable, then the transmission distance will be extended by 100 meters, because the switch has the function of amplifying the signal to strengthen the network signal. So it can be used normally.
However, if the distance is 300 meters or 500 meters, adding multiple switches can solve the problem, but the signal after the three-stage amplification of the switch may be unstable. So the way to increase the switch is to only add two switches to solve the transmission problem within 300 meters.
Method two: using a fiber optic transceiver
Long-distance network cable transmission, the network signal attenuation is too large, if the distance exceeds 300 meters, a pair of optical fiber transceivers can be added in the middle. Optical fiber transmission is the ideal way, and the signal is smooth and stable.
Fiber optic transceivers also need to be paired. The transmitting port (TX) of one transceiver is connected to the receiving port (RX) of the other transceiver. Fiber optic transmission is used between the transceivers. The camera terminal is connected to the transceiver through a switch. The network method is also applicable to large-scale monitoring coverage, and its excellent performance is widely used.
Method three, bridge transmission
If wiring is difficult for many environments, wireless transmission can also be used in the middle, which is simple to install and low in construction costs. It should be noted that the wireless bridges must be visible between each other, and must not be blocked by obstacles.
There are two ways to use the wireless bridge.
1.Point-to-point connection
If multiple cameras are concentrated, you can connect the cameras to the switch.
If the cameras are scattered and far away, each camera can be configured with a pair of network bridges
Point-to-multipoint
If the included angle between the camera distribution location and the monitoring center is less than 60 degrees, point-to-multipoint transmission can be considered. Can reduce transmitting end bridge and cost.
These two methods of bridges are used according to different scenarios, such as on the street, in schools, in factories, in office buildings, on construction sites, in parks, in residential quarters, on the banks of rivers, in ports, and even in forests. , Gobi Desert and more. As long as there is a need to install a video surveillance system, a wireless video surveillance system can be used, and bridges will be used.
to sum up
1.Ease of use
These three methods have their own uses. If the transmission distance is within 200 meters, then we can directly add a switch in the middle to continue using the network cable transmission. If the distance is long and you don't want complicated wiring, you can use a bridge to Transmission is more convenient.
If there are obstacles between the two places, which are not suitable for wireless bridge networking, you can consider using fiber optic networking in the middle. The required consumables are a pair of optical transceivers and leather fibers.
2.Stability
The switch is relatively stable when interrupting two or so signals, and the signal will be attenuated after three relays. This is only suitable for short distance transmission of about 200 meters; bridge transmission saves time and effort, but the stability is slightly worse, affected by various factors Optical fiber networking is relatively simple. Optical transceivers are used in pairs. One end is connected to the camera and the other end is connected to the switch in the equipment room. The optical transceivers are connected through leather fibers. The cost of optical fiber networking supplies is not high, and it is stable and reliable.
