Especially in the bed application of high-precision machine tools, resin concrete is replacing traditional cast iron step by step. Resin concrete, a mixture of natural minerals (different sizes, different sources) and epoxy resins (as binders), has a great advantage over conventional cast iron. Casting temperature of resin concrete at 45°C is another advantage compared to cast iron at a casting temperature of 900°C. The traditional method is to install other components after the bed has been cast. It is now possible to cast components such as pipes, cables, sensors, actuators, and fluid-filled chambers directly into the casting. The supplier will handle the secondary components and cast them so that the designer has ample opportunity to reduce the material list.

In addition to reducing material transportation costs by meeting the accuracy requirements in the field, resin concrete consumes less energy than cast iron and saves approximately 30% in energy consumption during the manufacturing process. In the face of energy, natural gas, coal and other energy problems, the use of environmentally friendly materials such as resin concrete, which is inexpensive and can be recycled, is the best choice. Resin concrete trash and old beds can be used as building materials, but also for roads and buildings. These have been confirmed by German experts. In addition, resin concrete can also be used in the food industry.

price advantage

Nowadays, with respect to the overall bed (with linear guides installed with specified accuracy), the price of the resin concrete bed is not higher than that of the gray iron bed. With rising energy prices, the price advantage of resin concrete is obvious because of its low energy consumption. In addition, such as highly integrated, high precision and vibration absorption will also directly or indirectly reduce costs.

The density of resin concrete is about 1/3 of cast iron. In order to obtain the same rigidity, three times the volume of cast iron is required. The weight of the bed is about the same as that of cast iron. Of course, the design is not the same as cast iron. At design time, limitations on wall thickness and material accumulation will no longer be noticed. Only the thickness of the casting must be adjusted according to the particle size of the ore used and the pressure applied. Without the limitation of the maximum wall thickness, the accumulation of materials is not a problem.
