Chang'an Ford 7 billion yuan to expand

Last week, the reporter learned from Chang An Ford that Ford has decided to invest an additional 7 billion yuan in the Chinese enterprises for the ongoing construction of the vehicle plant and the new engine plant, which will increase the overall production capacity of Changan Ford Mazda to 900,000 vehicles.

Previously, Ma Ruilin, president of Changan Ford Mazda, has announced two major investments, one is a complete vehicle plant that has been started in Chongqing and the other is an engine plant. The former will prepare in time for the new Fox models launched in China in 2012. It is estimated that the production capacity will reach 400,000 units; the latter will focus on engine production with a production capacity of 150,000 units and is expected to start production in 2013.

At this point, there are three new factories under construction for Ford Motor and its partners in China. Two of them are the Changan Ford Mazda new factory in Chongqing and the other is the Xiaolan base of Jiangling Motors in Nanchang. In addition, Changan Ford Mazda signed a memorandum with Chongqing Municipal Government for investment of 500 million U.S. dollars for the construction of a new engine plant.
