Four years after the hybrid will develop rapidly

When Toyota's hybrid models have sold 5 million vehicles worldwide, hybrid vehicles in China are still selling around 10,000 cars a year. When will the hybrid car arrive? At the Seminar on the Status Quo and Trends of Hybrid Electric Vehicle Development in China held last week, Xu Changming, Director of Information Resources Development Department of the National Information Center, said that the development of hybrid vehicles will be slow in the next two to three years, but after 3-4 years, it will Rapid development. The Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Automobile Industry, Ye Shengji, is also very confident about the future of hybrid power. He optimistically predicted that by 2020, hybrid power products will account for about 20% of automobile production and sales.

Green, environmental protection, efficiency, and safety are always the basics of the development of the automotive industry. In order to solve the sustainable development of the auto industry and raise the overall level of the auto industry, China has proposed to vigorously develop energy-saving and new energy industries. China's crude oil imports are now close to 60% according to incomplete statistics, which is very dangerous. Based on this issue, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Automobile Industry, Mr. Ye Shengji, believes that there are two ways to resolve the problem. The first is to improve the efficiency of the car, upgrade the car, and reduce fuel consumption, including advanced engines, advanced drive systems, and various other energy-savings. Second, we must pay attention to the development of hybrid vehicles. At present, pure electric vehicles are still far inferior to traditional energy vehicles in terms of cost of use and ease of use. Traditional energy vehicles are still the basic model or mainstream model for the next 20 years.

Xu Changming pointed out directly the necessity of developing hybrid vehicles. First, the contradiction between China's oil supply and demand will be very prominent by 2020. Second, we must vigorously develop hybrid vehicles from now on. Third, the joint efforts of the government, enterprises, society, and residents can effectively promote the development of hybrid vehicles.

At present, China’s annual oil consumption is increasing, but oil production is very stable, about 200 million tons. The growth will depend on imports. With the increase in car ownership, the degree of import dependence will be even higher. There are four ways to solve the car's dependence on oil. The first is new energy vehicles and alternative fuel vehicles. However, because China has a population of 1.34 billion, the problem of alternative fuels is difficult to solve in China because too many people. Food is used to eat, but it is not enough to eat it. In a country like Brazil, this problem becomes very simple. There are 850 million square kilometers and 180 million people, and there is basically no desert, so using sugar cane can solve the problem of automotive oil. The second is to use the car rationally and improve the driving environment. The United States has specifically established a lane for more than two people, and similar policies in China require the coordination of multiple departments. The third is the miniaturization and weight reduction of the models. But what happens now is just the opposite. There are several trends now. Luxury cars have increased significantly and SUVs have soared. The proportion of luxury cars has rapidly increased from 4% to around 8% now. The SUV has grown very fast since 2007 and its share has risen to 21.5%. The sales of SUVs may reach 4.5 million next year. Moreover, the larger the scale, the bigger the car is. The fourth is that traditional cars achieve energy conservation through technological means. The first is high-efficiency internal combustion engine technology, which can achieve very good fuel-saving purposes, but the cost is high. Another is hybrid technology, which can effectively save fuel by wasting energy recovery and replacing the engine with a high fuel consumption condition. This is currently feasible. It can be said that vigorously developing hybrid vehicles is an inevitable choice for the sustainable realization of China's automobile industry and even the entire economy and society.

It is understood that after more than a decade of development, China’s hybrid power technology has made considerable progress. According to incomplete statistics, hybrid vehicles produced and sold more than 12,000 vehicles in 2012. In the first three quarters of 2013, the production and sales of hybrid vehicles exceeded 9,000 and 12,000 vehicles, an increase of 60% over the same period in 2012.
