Seawater utilization "industry, study and research" alliance established

It is understood that the alliance was jointly initiated and established by five units including the National Seawater Utilization Engineering Technology Research Center and Tianjin Science and Technology Commission. The main task of the alliance is to focus on the key issues of seawater utilization industry technology innovation, carry out technical cooperation, and jointly break through the core technologies of industrial development; jointly build a seawater utilization public technology platform and make rational use of it; implement sharing of intellectual property rights; implement technology transfer and accelerate seawater use technology The commercialization of the results and the joint training and interaction of talents will effectively enhance the core competitiveness of the industry.

Yan Jin, deputy director of the Department of Social Development Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology, told the reporter that while desalination in China basically meets the conditions for industrialization, the level of research and innovation, the development and manufacturing capabilities of equipment, system design and integration are still relatively foreign. Big gap. The most pressing task is to form a complete industrial chain of the seawater desalination equipment market in China as soon as possible. Focusing on key issues that restrict the cost reduction of seawater desalination, we will develop key technologies such as membrane and membrane materials and key equipment, and research and development of new technology and new technologies for seawater desalination with independent intellectual property rights. New equipment and new products will increase the localization rate of key materials and key equipment, and enhance the ability to independently build large seawater desalination projects.

It is also understood that, as an open source incremental technology for water resources, desalination of seawater has become an important way to solve the global water crisis. As of the end of 2009, there are more than 150 countries and regions in the world applying desalination technology. The global output of seawater desalination is nearly 60 million tons, of which 80% is used for drinking water, solving the problem of water supply for more than 200 million people.
